Valentine Card to share

Hello,
It is a wonderful Saturday here. Super nice weather. Just warm enough to be comfortable without a sweater and no winds. Hubby and I have spent the morning put away more Christmas decorations and CLEANING out the garage. Since I have classes in the garage I need to keep it neat and clean for all my wonderful ladies. The past month the garage has turned into a dumping place for everything. With everything that wasn't supposed to be in the garage now put away, the floor all washed cleaned and tables scrubbed I can have classes again.
I already feel Valentines Day coming very soon. I am starting to make some quick cards that I can take to church and add to the cards I have up for sale. The card sales goes towards the women's fund to help offset costs for events and retreats. I will be posting more Valentines cards during the next few weeks.

Happy New Year!

Hello,

Happy New Year everyone. I hope the New Year brings with it positive changes. Have you thought about what changes you may like to make? I am going to figure out a way to create more time to craft for the pure joy of it. Spending so much time crafting for work and planning classes I haven't done much just for the pure joy of creating something for myself, family or friends. I was sick a few days after Christmas. Sitting on the sofa resting gave me time to make myself handwarmers, a matching headband and I am working on a scarf to match. I am also going to plan time to start playing my flute again. I told myself so many time last year pick it up and practice. I am going to commit to just doing it.
I took time yesterday to make the calendar project shown below.

I started with a 12" x 12" piece of cream colored cardstock. Folded the cardstock in half. Keep the creased edge along the top.

I then used the Country Roads paper from Pinecone Press to decorate the folded cream cardstock. The frames are part of the paper collection. I will add family photos to my project later.

I then used the calendar paper from Pinecone Press to add the monthsand the icons. For the months I cut our a 2" square and centered it with temporay adhesive onto the month and cut around to make each month a 2" square to fit the project better. I centered a ruler along the bottom edge of the project and marked at 4" and 8". Punched a hole for the ribbon to go through. Insert the ribbon and space the project apart so it can stand on a table, then tie ribbon into a bow. You will see three months on each side. For the next xis months just undo the ribbon, fold project in half the other way and reinsert the ribbon. You could take a family photo Jan., April, July and October and add to your project. A great way to see the changes throughout the year. Especially with growing kids.

Christmas Cards with the Cricut

Hello,

Boy the year has sure passed. I spent many months planning a retreat for the women at the church I attend. It took up many more hours of my time than I thought it would. In the end it was all worth it. I was blessed in so many ways and the ladies enjoyed themselves greatly. Until the next time I plan a huge event like that I will have some time to create cards and projects. I have also been busy sewing again. My first hobby, that has been put on the back burner for many years. I have also been busy knitting and crocheting. I will have to put up photos of some of those projects to share with you.
I finally bought myself a Cricut. They have been out for years and I put off getting one. I got a very special price for mine so I was able to afford it. I have been enjoying making projects from what I cut from it.
I thought it would be nice to create some Christmas cards using the Cricut. It really is nice to create something that you cannot create with rubber stamps. The cards shown here are a couple of cards I will be featuring at a upcoming Christmas Card class. Check the calendar for dates and times. Give me a couple of days from now to post the details. I just couldn't wait to show you what the cards turned out like. I did get some inspiration from something I saw online for one of them.

What is growing in my garden?

Hello,

I have been enjoying planting vegetables and cooking them. We have been eating green beans, onions, carrots and zucchini. I planted one plant and it has grown and grown. I forgot what I planted. Looking at it I thought maybe I would be getting some cucumbers. No fruit was budding so I had no clue what was to come.

Today I took a peek and look what I found hidden beneath the vines. It is either watermelon or cantaloupe. I will know for sure in a few weeks.

This is what happen when you don't pick the zucchini quick enough. They can grow bigger than a can of vegetables. This size is better for making bread with. Homemade zucchini bread is YUMMY!!

I have a corn stalk growing here. I really don't expect anything from it. I found out your supposed to plant a few together for them to cross breed. I didn't plant enough and I ran out of planting space.

My tomatoes and bell peppers never did come up. I will have to plant some more this weekend. We still have enough summer ahead to get some growing.

I can tell Spring is trying to overcome Winter. The leaves of future flowers are poking up through the ground as the dirt warms. I know some of these flowers as they have sprung up from seeds left behind since they last bloomed for the past couple of years. I am looking forward to the return of their beautiful blossoms. I planted a vegetable garden recently and now have vegetables in my garden starting to show themselves towards the sun. I have eaten a couple of radishes and the bunny has been enjoy the greens of those radishes and the stems of the broccoli. I have a Spring banner project I wanted to share with you today. It is one of those chilly days outside but I didn't let the cold detour me from making something that says happy and cheerful. I will have kits available for sale at my upcoming classes for only $5.00.

Helping Others - Project to share

Hello,

I recently went to an event with my friend Janet. It was a girls night out put on by the Fish Radio station. Featured artist was Heather Williams, a wonderful singer and a amazing story of her life. Special guest was Caroline Barnett from the Dream Center in L.A.. We had a wonderful time at the event. They also had many vendors there to talk with. I had an opportunity to speak with a woman that is involved with the Dream Center in a new ministry to their already many wonderful ministries. She is involved with the ministry that is helping to rescue girls from human trafficking. You may not have heard of human trafficking or even believe it exist right here in the United States or even right here in our own backyard of California, but it does. I have some friends that have been involved with another organization for awhile. I really didn't know how bad this is until the statics were shared with me. I asked this woman how I could help. She mentioned a couple of ways and crafting came up. Well you all know that I have been blessed with the ability to do many crafts and believe that the skills and knowledge is not for myself but to share and teach others. I offered to plan a project for the girls. I took time today to test out my idea and made a couple of samples. I am pleased how they turned out. I decided to decorate picture frames. The message to mat the photo on says "Beautiful One I Adore". I want these girls to know that they are beautiful and adored by God. I want to take their picture and have them put it into the frame they will get to decorate. A picture to remind them of their new life and beginning and to know they have a God that loves and adores them. A bible verse that came to me is from
Psalm 18: 1 - 6 How I love you, LORD! You are my defender. The LORD is my protector; he is my strong fortress. My God is my protection, and with him I am safe. He protects me like a shield; he defends me and keeps me safe. I call to the LORD, and he saves me from my enemies. Praise the LORD! The danger of death was all around me; the waves of destruction rolled over me. The danger of death was around me, and the grave set its trap for me. In my trouble I called to the LORD; I called to my God for help. In his temple he heard my voice; he listened to my cry for help.
There are millions of people in slavery across the world. We can do something to help.
I know personally how I feel when I accomplish something and many of you have shared with me how you feel when you get to be creative. Having the chance to have a creative outlet can be a healing experience.
Here are some facts out human trafficking. There are many more opportunities you can help the Dream Center. There are many more organizations that could use volunteers. Check out today what you can do to make someone else's life better.

Valentine Explosion Box

Hello,

I spent my weekend making this wonderful Explosion Box. I do still need to add photos but was too excited I finished my project I wanted to take photos to share. I used the My Digital Studio software from Stampin' Up! to create the images I added to the project. The paper is retired paper from Stampin' Up!. The explosion box was created using a blank from Pinecone Press. I love this blank because it saves me time. I don't have to make my box first to decorate. I just get to the fun of creating. I also love that is blank has pockets so you can add tags. I use the tags for journaling or adding more photos. You can purchase your own blank here.

Christmas Card class Tea Party

Yes, I am very late posting these photos. I even had a few days off from work and was still too busy to share these with you. Before my Christmas card class I hosted a Tea Luncheon. The ladies had a very nice time. It was great to share conversation with people that hadn't seen each other for awhile. I really do enjoy the event. I should have these luncheons more often. Such a waste of my tea pots and cups to collect dust in the cupboard. But more importantly I enjoy the company of friends and what better way to share time with them enjoying a meal also. Thanks bunches ladies for joining me for the day.

Valentine "LOVE" banner

Hello,

I created this LOVE banner using the new valentine paper from Pinecone Press. I really like the soft muted colors. I did use chipboard as the base to give strength to the banner so I can use it again year after year. The papers have patterns on both sides. You can choose to use the other side pattern to give your banner a differnt look.

I will be hosting a class for this project on Wednesday, February 2nd. See calendar for more details.

Christmas Open House Project Night

This is a great time to work on Christmas cards. I will have Christmas card kits available for $1.00 each. Make as many as you want.

Tis the Season! Can you believe it, Christmas will be here soon. Where has all the time gone. Seems each years passes faster than the one before. I don't dare blink, I'll have a part of my life just flash on by.

I have been busy for a few days planning Christmas cards and cutting tons of paper. Still more paper to cut. Here are the cards I have planned for this years class. I will post the date and time on the calendar as soon as I figure it all out. I am planning a two day event. One day will include a Tea Party before the class. Space is limited. Cute Witch Shoe Card

Hello,

I really enjoyed creating this card. It is super easy to make.

The card base is black cardstock cut 6" x 9" and folded in half.

The decorated paper is by Pinecone Press.

The green cardstock measures 5 3/4" x 4 1/4". Ink edges with black ink. Ink and stamp any spider image you have to front of card. Adhere layer to card base.

Download and cut out Pattern for Witch Shoe. Ink edges of shoe.

Cut out 4 buckles from orange cardstock. I used a Stampin' Up! punch. Glue to shoe as shown. Add purple rhienstones for buttons.

Cut a length of ribbon 7" - 8" long. Use thread to gather along bottom edge to width of shoe. Use red line tape along top edge of shoe and adhere ribbon. apply red line tape to the ribbon that will adhere to card. Add pop dots to back of shoe. Adhere shoe to front of card.

Bixby Knolls Car Show

Craig and I along with a long time good friend Rick went to the Bixby Knolls car show this Saturday. They had lot's of cars to see. I didn't take pictures of them all. I now wish I had taken more. They were also raising money for the Special Olympics. Very nice.

I may do this as a class project. The first image is the cover of the project. The second image shows what the project looks like open. The next images show each panel. A very good story to share

Hello,

I received this story in an e-mail. It is sure to bring tears to your eyes. When you're finished reading it, think about what you do yourself to make a difference in the life of someone else.

As she stood in front of her 5th grade class on the very first day of school, she told the children an untruth. Like most teachers, she looked at her students and said that she loved them all the same. However, that was impossible, because there in the front row, slumped in his seat, was a little boy named Teddy Stoddard.

Mrs. Thompson had watched Teddy the year before and noticed that he did not play well with the other children, that his clothes were messy and that he constantly needed a bath.. In addition, Teddy could be unpleasant. It got to the point where Mrs. Thompson would actually take delight in marking his papers with a broad red pen, making bold X's and then putting a big 'F' at the top of his papers.

At the school where Mrs. Thompson taught, she was required to review each child's past records and she put Teddy's off until last. However, when she reviewed his file, she was in for a surprise.

Teddy's first grade teacher wrote, 'Teddy is a bright child with a ready laugh. He does his work neatly and has good manners...he is a joy to be around.

His second grade teacher wrote, 'Teddy is an excellent student, well liked by his classmates, but he is troubled because his mother has a terminal illness and life at home must be a struggle.'

His third grade teacher wrote, 'His mother's death has been hard on him. He tries to do his best, but his father doesn't show much interest, and his home life will soon affect him if some steps aren't taken.'

Teddy's fourth grade teacher wrote, 'Teddy is withdrawn and doesn't show much interest in school. He doesn't have many friends and he sometimes sleeps in class.'

By now, Mrs. Thompson realized the problem and she was ashamed of herself. She felt even worse when her students brought her Christmas presents, wrapped in beautiful ribbons and bright paper, except for Teddy's. His present was clumsily wrapped in the heavy, brown paper that he got from a grocery bag. Mrs. Thompson took pains to open it in the middle of the other presents. Some of the children started to laugh when she found a rhinestone bracelet with some of the stones missing, and a bottle that was one-quarter full of perfume. But she stifled the children's laughter when she exclaimed how pretty the bracelet was, putting it on, and dabbing some of the perfume on her wrist. Teddy Stoddard stayed after school that day just long enough to say, 'Mrs. Thompson, today you smelled just like my Mom used to.'

After the children left, she cried for at least an hour. On that very day, she quit teaching reading, writing and arithmetic. Instead, she began to teach children. Mrs. Thompson paid particular attention to Teddy. As she worked with him, his mind seemed to come alive. The more she encouraged him, the faster he responded. By the end of the year, Teddy had become one of the smartest children in the class and, despite her lie that she would love all the children the same, Teddy became one of her 'teacher's pets..'

A year later, she found a note under her door, from Teddy, telling her that she was the best teacher he ever had in his whole life.
Six years went by before she got another note from Teddy. He then wrote that he had finished high school, third in his class, and she was still the best teacher he ever had in life.

Four years after that, she got another letter, saying that while things had been tough at times, he'd stayed in school, had stuck with it, and would soon graduate from college with the highest of honors. He assured Mrs. Thompson that she was still the best and favorite teacher he had ever had in his whole life.

Then four more years passed and yet another letter came. This time he explained that after he got his bachelor's degree, he decided to go a little further. The letter explained that she was still the best and favorite teacher he ever had. But now his name was a little longer. The letter was signed, Theodore F. Stoddard, MD.

The story does not end there. You see, there was yet another letter that spring. Teddy said he had met this girl and was going to be married. He explained that his father had died a couple of years ago and he was wondering if Mrs. Thompson might agree to sit at the wedding in the place that was usually reserved for the mother of the groom. Of course, Mrs. Thompson did. And guess what? She wore that bracelet, the one with several rhinestones missing. Moreover, she made sure she was wearing the perfume that Teddy remembered his mother wearing on their last Christmas together.

They hugged each other, and Dr. Stoddard whispered in Mrs. Thompson's ear, 'Thank you Mrs. Thompson for believing in me. Thank you so much for making me feel important and showing me that I could make a difference.'

Mrs. Thompson, with tears in her eyes, whispered back. She said, 'Teddy, you have it all wrong. You were the one who taught me that I could make a difference. I didn't know how to teach until I met you.'

(For you that don't know, Teddy Stoddard is the Dr at Iowa Methodist in Des Moines that has the Stoddard Cancer Wing.)

Warm someone's heart today. . . pass this along. I love this story so very much, I cry every time I read it. Just try to make a difference in someone's life today. Tomorrow. Just 'do it'.

Shutter Card

I have a wonderful project to share with you today. I used the Shutter Card blank from Pinecone Press to make this project. It is not hared to make. It does fold so you can mail it or keep shut on a table. I really prefer to keep it open on a table or fireplace mantel. I haven't added phots yet to my project but it has room for Lot's of photos. Flap Book Purse Album

I have a project that I would like to share with you today. This would make a wonderful gift for someone for Mother's Day. It has just the right amount space for a few pictures. Have you given Grandma updated photos of her grandchildren? This would make a perfect grandma brag book filled with updated photos of the kids. Great Golf Day!

Hello,

I started playing golf about a year ago. I wanted a hobby or activity that my hubby and I could enjoy together. I figured it would also provide me with some much needed exercise. I have had a few lessons. I haven't taken my lessons for a few months though. My hubby and I went to play a round of golf today. I was hoping since I hadn't played in a few months I would still have a good game. I am pretty happy that I actually TIED the game with my hubby. If I hadn't had a couple of bad swings at a couple of holes I would have actually beat him. Maybe the next game. Maybe not, his game wasn't up to his usual. I am still happy I tied. That was totally unexpected.

Quick & Easy Easter Basket

Easter is almost here. Do you still need to make up some Easter Baskets? This basket is so quick and easy you can whip up a few of them for gift giving.
The basket was made using Pinecone Press Spring Stripe paper. The basket was decorated with the Pinecone Press Bunny Die Cuts.
Use pattern to make basket. A file is included at the bottom of this post.

Sad day around here

Hello,

We have been dreading this day. Our beloved dog Brandy has been not getting around well for some time. This past couple of weeks has been really hard to watch her struggle to get around. Her health has gotten worse all week. So many health problems and to be expected at her old age. Brandy has been a great dog. We adopted her about 11 years ago and she bonded with us instantly. She has always protected us. She barked, every time the doorbell rang and would greet everyone. At first you were to pass her inspection and if you passed she would lie on her back to get her belly rubbed. Silly girl. She loved to go for car rides, which looking back she may have liked a few more trips. Would play with our cats but was sure to keep the neighbors out of the yard. She would follow me around, come into my office and stay by me. Sit at and sometimes on my feet when I would work on the computer. Always looking for a handout at the dinner table. Loved to take a walk around the block, even tried so hard to walk a couple of weeks ago. She would get so excited you could hardly get her leash on her collar.

When I came home this past week from work I could tell her time had come to an end. I gathered the kids around and each took time to say their good-byes to Brandy. Kevin and Liz helped me take Brandy to the shelter where we adopted her to put her to rest. Saying good-bye to a family pet is so very hard. She will be missed by us all.

My family had the privilege and honor of attending our son Allan's award recognition dinner. Allan was recognized for being one of the top 100 students in his entire school. We are so proud of his accomplishment. This his his third year to be honoured. The school has a nice dinner for the students and their familys and hands out medals to all the students. The Seniors that have been a top 100 student for all four years also receive an additional medal.

Here is a CD album I made using the new Pinecone Press "Love You" paper line. I really do like making these. They are simple to put together. You can put photos on the outside of the pockets as well as put photos on the tags that go into the pockets. I will be teaching a class at The Scrapbook Depo on Thursday, February 11th at 6:00 pm. Class fee is $25.00

My Newly released paper design!

It is finally here. Here is a paper design I came up with called Diane's Greetings. It is an all occasion greeting sheet that is perfect for card makers. It has has been published and is shipping world wide. How exciting is that. I have been busy designing cards with the new paper. All my projects are being published in the newly released Pinecone Press Options kit. The new paper line printed by Pinecone Press
goes perfectly with my greeting sheet. I will be planning an all occasion card class soon so you can use the new paper.
I am starting to design another greeting sheet. This is one reason I have not had classes recently. So very sorry. I do miss all of you and miss the classes.

Get on Board the Love Train! Whooo! Whooo!

Hello,
I had so much fun creating this LOVE train to fill with sweets. I took the Easter train blank from Pinecone Press and turned it into a Valentine train. The blank has a half circle attached on the side of the train so it makes it easy for you to attach the hearts.
The hearts were cut out with a Sizzix die. The paper and LOVE message is from our new "Love You" paper line.
Cut strips of paper 1-1/8" X 12". Wrap strip around box and crease along the corners. Adhere paper to box.
To attach the trains together,I cut a piece of chipboard 1/2" by about 5" in length. I covered it with red cardstock. Attach this strip to the bottom of the train with red line tape. Punch a small hole through end of this strip and attach two trains with a brad.
The wheels are decorated with cardstock and a brad attached for decoration. Glue the wheels to the box train as shown.
The engine is a milk carton box pattern. Click Here for pattern.
Don't forget to fill train cars with some yummy candy for your sweetheart.

Sweetheart Frame

I have had a busy day. Finally able to put up the project I made. The frame is from the new "Love You" paper line from Pinecone Press. The other images are also from the same die cut sheet as the frame. I inked the edges with brown ink. Added glitter glue and micro beads to the hearts. The frame itself is mounted on a folded piece of cardstock with the fold at along the top. Makes it easy to stand on a desk or table. The photo is a picture of my son Kevin and his girlfriend Jessica. They have known each other for a few months through mutual friends. they have been dating for about a month. I love to see Kevin's face light up when he sees Jessica and talks to her. Young love in bloom. Ahhhhh!

Valentine Cards

Hello,

Feeling better the past couple of days I made some Valentine cards. I used the new "Love You" paper from Pinecone Press.

I decided to make a Gate fold card. For my base I used a piece from our Star Card blank. I used one piece with the cut out opening. No having to figure out the measurements to get the gate fold, the score lines are already done. I made a band for the card cutting a strip of the hearts from the Sweet Treats paper. The red heart and message are from the Love You die cuts. The heart is layered onto two different pieces of paper and attached to the band with a pop dot. The message is layered and attached with a pop dot. I use the Stampin' Up! scallop border punch was used for the edge of the red cardstock and the piece was swiss dotted with a Cuttlebug embossing folder. For the inside of card I used the borders from the I Love You from the Honey Bunny coupons. I covered the entire back of card with the backside of the Love You Plaid cardstock. This filled in the opening of the card. The message is from the Love You die cuts. I covered the edge the the message with a clear fine glitter. I attached with pop dots. The other papers are from the new Love You paper. I cut out several hearts and used pop dots to give dimension. I tied a few of the hearts with ribbon.

For this card I use my circle punch to punch out the cupcakes from the Love You die cut sheet. Used my Stampin' Up! scallop circle punch for a layer and two other circle punches for layers. I used a Sizzix embossing folder for the red band. The border punch is a Martha Stewart punch.

For this card I added stitching with my souffle gel pen to the die cut image. The hearts were cut out from the Love You die cut sheet and the other images are from the die cut sheet. I added glitter glue to the hearts for some sparkle.

I really like the combination of chocolate brown and pink colors. The words and heart our cut out from the Love You die cut sheet. The greetings on the die cut sheet are different on both sides, giving you several messages to put on your projects. The heart is covered with tiny micro beads applied with a small amount of glue. The border punch is from Stampin' Up!

Tired of aching back

Hello,

I have been out of action for the past two weeks. Have had a really bad backache. I am still not back to my old self. I have been off work and sitting around resting and sleeping too much. With all the time I had to rest I knitted up Allan a beanie hat and started one for Loren. Good thing you can order gifts on-line and have them shipped to you. I couldn't get out much to Christmas shop. We didn't even bake cookies and make candy this year. I go back to work tomorrow. I am hoping my mind clears up and I get some class ideas planned. Check calendar in a few days. I did get some Valentine cards made the last two days. Sit at my desk for as long as I can and back to resting.

Last Minute gift card holder.

Hello,

I am finally feeling a bit better today. I have enough energy to get the presents wrapped and under the Christmas tree finally.
Hubby and I decided to give the two older boys a gift card along with a couple other gifts.
I didn't want to put them into a boring white envelope. With my Big shot and Top Note die I was able to put these two gift card holders together really quickly. Took me longer to scan, crop and upload the images. I cut the front and back pieces from the top Note die with different pieces of cardstock. I cut another 1 1/2" wide piece of cardstock from the bottom of the Top Note die. I usede glue around the edge of the smaller piece and then adhered it to the back inside piece.
I scored the front pieces about 1/2" in from the left edge. I aligned the top and bottom together and joined them with ribbon adding a tag. I added the sticker to the front to decorate. I found these stickers at Wal-Mart. You must admit these are pretty cute to fill with a gift card.

I have tried my hand at making another card using the My Digital Studio program from Stampin' Up! It is a really easy program to use. It isn't the same as stamping the images and cutting out all the papers. For someone that doesn't have the storage for alot of materials this is a nice alternative to creating cards. You could also create the images on a blank sheet and print out and then cut them and layer for a more handmade card.

I made this JOY banner to put upon my work blog and wanted to share it here with you also. This JOY banner could be made with full sheets of paper or with scraps. The size of the banner is 4" x 6" for each panel. A Ellison die was used to cut the letters. You can use any letters of your choice or even use your Cricut to cut out your letters.
Papers and Images used are from Pinecone Press .
Directions:
Cut 3 pieces of chipboard 4" x 6". Ink edges all around.
Cut cardstock base for each panel 4" x 6". Ink edges all around. Attach ribbon and borders to cardstock panels. Adhere to chipboard.
Cut out your letters from solid or printed cardstock. Attach ribbon to letters if you want.
Cut squares for matting letters slightly larger than letters. Use corner rounder to round edges of squares. Attach ribbon around squares if you want. Mount letters to squares with pop-dots. Adhere to cardstock panels using pop-dots for more dimension.
Cut out images from die sheet and adhere to panels.
Punch holes for ribbon to join panels together. Tie panels together.
Add embellishments such as buttons, glitter, stickles.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I am Thankful for so much this year. God is good!
I have had a busy morning. I baked two pumpkin pies, a apple crumb and cherry pie. I did make my crust from scratch. Tried a new recipe and followed some directions I found on-line. I am hoping for a flaky crust. I am sort of a pie crust snob. I LOVE flaky pie crust. A tough crust pie is not to be eaten. Now my Turkey is cooking. Looking forward for the aroma of the turkey to waft throughout the house soon. My dad came to join us today. We are all enjoying each others company.

My Favorite Cookie Cookbook

We are working up some fun projects at work. I had Monday off work and decided to play with some stuff and come up with an idea that I think will fit an upcoming book. I started with one piece of the Flap Book from Pinecone Press. I also used 6 envelopes for my project. To decorate my project I used the Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin kit from Stampin' Up! The kit is filled with a ton of really nice accents and beautiful decorative paper. I hardly used any for my project so I have lots left for more projects.
The scallop punch is a SU punch. The die cut letters are from CuttleBug. I typed the wording for the tabs on my computer and punched out useing my Round tab punch from Stampin' Up!

Merry Little Christmas

Hello,

My annual Stamp-A-Stack Christmas card class is coming soon. I am starting to work on my Christmas card designs. I have my first two finished.

I combined my Perfect Presentation and Christmas Punch sets by Stampin' Up! to make my card. I used my snowflake Cuttlebug embossing folder also. Papers by Provo Craft and Me & My Big Ideas paper slabs.

The second card I used my new SU set Delightful Decorations. You can also get a matching ornament punch to make it ever so easy to punch out the ornament after you stamp it. I also used my new Petals A Plenty embossing folder available in the current SU mini catalog till January 4th.

I have finally finished the remainder of the card projects for the Christmas card class.

The adorable snowmen are from the Santa and Friends set from SU and the greeting is a Inkadinkado stamp. I like the paper cut at a diagonal for a variation.

The sweetly trimmed Christmas tree is a stamp from the Greetings Galore set. The greeting is Hampton Art stamp I purchased last year at Michaels. You will have a choice of a varitey of greetings for your card.

On the last card, I really like how the stamped image matches with the paper so well. The Merry Christmas greeting is from SU, the punch is a SU punch and the embossing folder used on the red cardstock is from Cuttlebug.

It has been a long summer. The heat wave still isn't over. I do have a cool class planned for you though. I am excited to share what I have planned.
I have designed some beautiful Tri-fold cards. They are 6" x 15" that fold into 6" x 6" cards. They are for all occasions. What you will really love is that they all have unique folds to them. The cards are decorated on the outside as well as the inside. I designed a sheet of paper that has all the greetings for the cards with many more you can use on other projects. Along with the 6 cards you will make a tote purse to keep the cards in. This also makes a wonderful gift giving item. Envelopes are also included.
I will be starting this class eariler than normal. I want to give you time to complete them.

Thanks to everyone that sent in their guesses for the vacation album.
The winner is Brad Evans. Brad guessed the correct location of both pictures.
For answers see photos below.
If you have never been to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon or to Bryce Canyon, I would highly recommend you plan a vacation and visit both places. They are beautiful. Each place is very different from each other. Since they are at higher elevations they are also cooler. We also visited Zion canyon while on vacation. Zion can get much hotter in the summer.
We did a lot of hiking. The kids were quick to notice lizards, frogs, bugs, birds, squirrels, deer, fish, butterflies, berries, flowers. When you take the time to look around you see so many beautiful things that you miss when you just walk quickly.
The family really enjoyed our vacation. I am already trying to think of where we want to go next year.

Adventure vacation almost over

Halloween Circle Explosion Album

This is a project I made for work. It is the Circle Explosion Album using the brand new Halloween paper designed by Pinecone Press . This is a fun album to make. I really like that the album comes as a blank so you get to start decorating your project and not have to make the base first. This project will also soon be made into a kit. My pictures don't even do justice to the colors of the paper.

Home from CHA

WOW! What a trip I had. I arrived at the wholesale CHA show on the last day. I didn't get much chance to see the booths. The wholesale show was slower than we had hoped for. We did have a wonderful make and take for the people to make. We were hooked up with Zutter. We used their Dreamcuts and Bind It All machines to make some cute books for the make and take. Donna Salazar has joined us at Pinecone Press and designed a paper line that works wonderful with the Zutter machines. You can see her new paper line called Vintage Nostalgia and Winter Wishes at Pinecone Press. After the wholesale we took down our booth and relocated to another area of the convention center and set up our booth for the retail show. We were not expecting much of a turn out. We were in for such a surprise. The doors opened and the place was filled with excited ladies to see all of what was there. There were several classes offered, new product on display, lots of booths offering make and takes and of course tons of product to be purchased.
Within three hours of the first day of the retail show, most of our merchandise had been bought. By the end of the show we were sold out.
I taught three classes and they were all a great hit with those in attendance. Everyone loved the bracelets. I will have to teach a class here. We were coming up with several other ideas the same concept could be used for. My card class was the only class to sell out. I had 50 ladies sign-up. These ladies reved me up with their excitement over the cards they made.
I did get to meet Paulette Jarvey from Paper Wishes and Maggie whom works with Provo Craft using the Cuttlebug. She has a wonderful site here that she and designers post awesome projects using the Cuttlebug.
I am so happy to be home again with my family. I sure did miss everyone. I am looking forward to planning some new projects and classes. Hope to see you soon.

Die cut Felt, Buttons & Ribbon Bracelets

Hello,

I have finished a couple of the bracelets I have been working on this weekend.
This is what I will be teaching at CHA next weekend.

These can really become addictive. Using a Die like one made by Sizzix you can cut out felt shapes. It sure beats using scissors. Get out your jar of mixed match buttons. I know you have one somewhere. If you don't have a jar around, start cutting off buttons from clothing before throwing it away and saving the buttons. Some day you will be so glad you did. In the mean time Joann's has a great assortment of buttons you can purchase. Get some ribbon, about 1/2 yard of three different designs about 3/8" wide and a length longer than your wrist about 5/8" wide. I use embroidery floss to stitch my felt for design. You can glue all the pieces together or sew them together.

Heading to CHA (Craft and Hobby Convention)

Hello,

I will be soon off to Florida to attend the Summer Craft and Hobby Association Convention. I will be teaching a few classes. If I get my bracelet sample finished tomorrow I will photograph and share with you. It is a little stressful having your boss give you a project to teach a few days before teaching it. I am a little excited to be able to attend the convention. I am just hoping the weather will not be too bad. Checking the weather forecast, it should be 90 with thunderstorms. I melt in the heat and humidity.
I hope to have something to share that is new from the convention.

Fusing Plastic Projects

Hello,

My friend Lena, showed me some cards she had made using plastic bags. They were so cool. I was very interested in how she made the plastic backgrounds for her cards. I searched around for some plastic bags around my house. We do all save some of them. I tried several ways of cutting the bags and layering the different colors on top of each other to create different looks.
The image on the top left I cut different colors of bags at different angles and layered on top of a plain white bag. I stamped with Staz On ink some text and flowers and layered a piece of orange bag on top and melted them together.
The image on the top right I layered 6 white bags, layered some flowers I cut out of a plastic bag using my Big Shot, then layered 2 more white bags and melted them together. The bottom left image I layered 6 white bags, then cut strips of different colored bags and layed on top and then layered 2 more white bags and melted them together. The last image I used a target bag and layered 6 white bags, the target image and then a yellow bag on top and melted them together. The process does take some practice. If you do a search on-line for Plastic Fusing you will find some directions and even videos.

Here are a couple of cards I made using a couple of the fused plastic pieces I made.

Hello,
I found some beautiful Heidi Grace paper, Paper Pizazz paper and some fun Coredinations Whitewash paper and had to play with them. I needed some plain cardstock for my card. I took out my NEW Stampin' Up! IN colors and found that the new Rich Razzleberry and Soft Suede colors match my other paper so well you would think they were created to go together. My pictures DO NOT do justice to the colors at all.
I am playing with my new paper to create some designs for a future class.
I also used the Sincere Salutations stamp set, Cuttlebug embossing folders and the "Lots of Tags" Sizzlits die from SU.

Versatial Scallop Envelope Die

All these projects were made using the Stampin' Up! Scallop Envelope Die in my Big Shot. I am so excited at how many different projects I was able to make using this one die. You can learn how to make these projects also. I will be having my first Big Shot class on Tuesday June 23rd. If you don't have this die you are still encouraged to attend. All my dies are available for use on my Open House nights, so this will give you a great opportunity to use the die, make several projects so that on the next Open House night you can make more of your projects.

Faux Frosting Technique

Hello,

This was a easy and creative technique to do. Doesn't my cupcake look good enough to eat? YUMMY! Lupe, takes my technique class and suggested this one. I tried it out and it was easier than I thought. I did have to search the Internet for some instruction. The one I choose was the easiest and least dangerous. One of the suggested methods used Crystal Lacquer on the card. If your not careful you can have a burst of fire. Not something I wanted to take a chance with.
My recipe calls for: Equal parts Flour & Salt. (a teaspoon is enough. I used a tablespoon and have tons of frosting left.) Add water to mixture. Add enough to get a paste consistency. Add just a couple drops of ink refill or food coloring to mixture if you want to color. Use a small popsicle stick to apply mixture to stamped image. Do not apply too thick. Sprinkle a little glitter on top for sparkle. Hold image with tweezers and use your heat tool to heat image from the underside of paper for a short time and then heat on top the image. You DO NOT want to get heat tool too close or hold in place over image too long or you will scorch your frosting. Not pretty! You can see the color change some to tell if it is dry. Fun with Florals and Patterns

I have been very busy planning some projects for upcoming classes. I hope to make these projects available as on-line kits to purchase. Unfortunately, all this has been a distraction from my current upcoming classes. Today I am spending time planning for this Tuesday's class. Here is a card I made using the Lizzy Garden paper from Pinecone Press . I was inspired by a card shared by Linda, that I saw at work.

I also decided I wanted to create a card with a fun fold. This card opens from the right first and then from the left. I found this card layout on Splitcoaststampers. A great place for inspiration. These cards, and one more beautiful card will be projects for this Tuesday's class April 7th.

Dance for no reason!

Our eldest child moved out a few months ago and the other kids have been wanting to move into other bedrooms so they will each have their own room. Yesterday was spent cleaning and moving furniture around. Now all the remaining kids have their own room. Was totally funny to me that the next to the youngest spent the night sleeping in the youngest child's room. They have shared a room since the youngest birth, so it must have been a little hard to separate. Today, I have spent my entire day working on upcoming class projects. Not even close to getting anything accomplished. Hubby has spent the day doing yard work and taking down a triple bunk bed that the kids no longer need.
As I have been working I have been playing music on my computer. A song by my favorite Neil Diamond came on. Hubby was walking past in the yard so I called out to him. For no reason at all I invited him to dance with me. We embraced each other, giggled, twirled around and enjoyed a moment of dancing together. Was a nice quick break for both of us.

Go dance for no reason at all.

What's coming ahead! Classes - Open House - Technique Tuesday - Project Night

It's a brand new year and I have great ambitions. I just hope my ambitions aren't too big for me to accomplish. Starting in February, every Tuesday night will feature a different event. My plan at the moment is to have the first Tuesday be a Card class. I will design three different cards for you to make. All supplies included as you have been used to. Just bring your class tool kit with you. Classes will be $10.00 each. Pictures of projects may or may not be on my blog in advance. Those of you that have taken my classes know the quality of projects I plan. The second Tuesday of the month will be Technique Tuesday Night. I will plan a stamping technique to teach you. You will make a project using that technique and then have time to make more projects using the technique or finish the evening making whatever projects you would like. Technique Tuesday cost is $5.00. The third Tuesday will be a Project class night. I have several new projects I have designed and want to share with you. Class fee will vary depending on the project. Photos of these projects should be featured on my blog. The fourth Tuesday of the month will be Open House Project night. This will replace Expresso Yourself night by name only. It seemed the name was confusing people. You come and make whatever project you would like. See side-bar for more information. Fee is $5.00..
I do ask that you RSVP in advance for all events so that I have enough materials, class kits and space available. The class calendar will have RSVP dates.

Hello,

Stampin' Up! has a delightful new stamp set called "Love You Much". Check side-bar for link to see special. I will be having a card class featuring this stamp set. The first card displayed is using some of the new Candy Land paper. A package of the Candy Land paper does come in the kit. You will be able to order just the paper pack when the new catalog is unvailed. I love the punch you can purchase. It punches out three heart at once that align with the stamped image. This card will be a project for my upcoming class. I will be using a different patterned paper for the project though. The second card featured is a card that we will be making in class also. I love the tri-fold opening and the long card will fit into a No. 10 envelope. I am still working on the third
project for the class.

New Clear Stamp Find

I LOVE my Stampin' UP! stamps. Sometimes though you just come accross other stamps you also want to add to your over abundant collection.
I found these really cute stamps at Joann's the other day. They cost only $1.00 each. I have seen such an improvement in design in the dollar stamps over the past couple of years. At first they were so basic I thought a kindergartner had drawn some. Now look at the beautiful designs these have. I absolutely love the KISS anytime ticket. I will be making one up for my hubby to redeem anytime he likes. Enjoy!

Falling 4 You Flap Book Album

Todays project was one featured in the Love Notes 3 book by Pinecone Press. Deb Jennis designed the book and I liked it so much I had to make one myself. I really like making these Flap Books. You can be very creative with decorating them, adding extra flaps and pockets to them. They make a wonderful small album that is great for photos of a special event for yourself or to give someone. The paper used is all a new design from Pinecone Press.

Flutterby - Chipboard Album

I love today's project. I designed this project at work. It makes me feel like Spring is here. The flower, ladybug and butterfly decorated with such bright colors are a delight to look at.

I wanted to do something fun with the flower on the front of the flower shaped board. so I made a mini album that is a four circle according piece that slides on the ribbon sandwiched between the flower icon and the circle. How cool is that. To make the mini circle album I cut out one circle the size I wanted. This one is 2 1/2" in diamiter. I then got a piece of scrap paper to make a pattern. I put the circle on the scrap paper and traced outside the template. I then moved my template so the edge of the circles overlapped just a little bit and traced another circle. I continued till I had made four joining circles. I cut out this patten and placed onto my printed cardstock and cut out my now long adjoining circles. How totally cool! The ribbon that is behind the last circle attatched to the book does not slide.

I could not resist making wings for my ladybug. I love interactive projects. It also gives you much more space to add more photos. You can purchase the chipboard blank album. It includes one each of the flower, ladybug, and butterfly chipboard blank with the rings. Boy's Toys - Chipboard Album

Hello,

I finally have a finished project to share. It gave me a great opportunity to use my new camera. I bought myself a really nice camera for my 50th birthday in Sept. The camera has more buttons and features than I have had time to figure out. The tripod for my camera will be here this week. My son, Kevin took these pictures for me. I would have liked a little more depth to them. He says a little more lighting is needed. A little more lighting will be addded to the next photo shoot. The next couple of days photos were all shot at the same time so, I will settle with some depth of field issues. Here is a fun project I made. I designed the shapes myself and cut them from chipboard. At work we are working on a new book that is filled with Word and Shape albums. I made this one to contribute to the book. I also designed another fun shaped book that was featured in the book. (Picture will be displayed later this week) That project was made into a product line available for sale. I think this project will also be made into a product line available for sale. We're working on a couple more ideas also. We thought it would be a great idea to have chipboard albums that have different shapes with a theme to them. I titled this one "Boys Toys", featuring shapes of toys that little boys like to play with. I am so pleased with how it turned out. Please feel free to let me know what you think.

Florished Tin Box I haven't decorated a box like this since I made this one. They are so pretty when decorated and great for storing lot's of different things.

Sweet Treat Containers One of my favorite projects to make are boxes and baskets.
Carousel notes afternoon tea purse album These were so popular and I still see some being made. Just holding this album made me feel like a lady. How sweet, a album that looks like a purse filled with pictures of your favorite friends.
I am sure this is enough down memory lane. Hope you had time to take the trip with me.
I have been for days wanting to get some new pictues taken to share with you. I must make a goal for tomorrow to share a really special project I made.

I am having some MEGA sized memory added to my computer. My son checked my computer and I had next to no memory left so I asked what we should do. Ever heard of a Terabyte? Neither had I a few days ago. That is how much memory I am having added to my computer. To get an idea of the capacity of a terabyte, consider the common megabyte (MB). Just over thousand megabytes equals one gigabyte, but just over one million megabytes equals a terabyte!
1,024 megabytes = 1 gigabyte
1,024 gigabytes = 1 terabyte
One terabyte is a trillion bytes (characters) which is also 1000 gigabytes. Or if you prefer, 1 TB = 1000 GB. So how much storage is that, really? Let's do some comparisons... 1 GB of memory is the equivalent of 500,000 typewritten pages, or about one pickup truck of books. So you could say that a terabyte is a thousand librarians driving Ford F150's stacked with literature.

Or in digital terms... the biggest iPod Classic stores 160GB, or about 40,000 songs. Six of those iPods would hold almost one terabyte, enough space to store a quarter-million songs. If you had a shiny new 1-terabtye hard drive, you could stash 300 feature length films, or 40,000 faxes on it. But you'd need 20 of those 1 TB drives to hold the entire print collection of the U.S. Library of Congress.

Like I said, MEGA sized memory. My son helped me pick out what I needed. He thinks I am nuts to add so much memory but the price was to good to pass up. I will be able to have tons of graphics, pictures, music and more stored onto my computer. I also had some RAM added to help my computer fun faster. I need speed to get my work done. If this upgrade of RAM isn't enough I can add some more.
It takes a few hours for the new hard drive to be formatted so I cannot load the pictures of the class projects till later.

I have one final class scheduled before Christmas. You will be making a super cute four pocket gift card holder. A great packaging idea for someone you want to give a variety of gift cards to. WHO would you give so many to you ask. How about a teenager or a child that recently moved to live on their own. Fill with cards for the movies, favorite food place, movie rental place, grocery store, Target, clothing store. Make a Goody/Spa holder. Same as the gift card holder but much larger in size. This has pockets large enough to hold cocoa and spiced cider packets, bath salts or potpourri packets. You can even make your own envelopes to fill with your own bath salt creations or a special cookie. You will also make an adorable slider card that you put your message on one side and attach a gift card to the other.
